Bob Fultz Response to Question #4:

4.  The SLV Water District has four vacant positions. In addition, the environmental manager currently covers a project manager position. How do you think the District should address these staffing challenges?

I am prepared to support the District Manager (DM) in his efforts to fill these positions.  Ultimately, our DM is responsible for the operations of the District, which includes hiring staff to the allocated headcount, and for DM to show the Board how that hiring is integrated into a workable budget.  I am in favor of continuing our efforts to move the District operations towards greener practices by making expanded use of readily available technology, which will also enable us to become more efficient.  While a better time to focus on efficiencies is when the economy is good, an economy like the one we have now--where families are struggling to make ends meet--means that every organization needs to focus on finances and become more efficient in order to lessen the financial burden on our community.  Often, small changes can yield major results and I’m prepared to support the DM in his efforts in this area as well.
